Benefits of Language Immersion
Language education that starts early and involves children in daily communication and content learning provides children the opportunity to develop a second language as naturally as they learned their first language.
Learning a second language prepares students to communicate with more people and to compete in a global economy, where proficiency in more than one language represents a significant advantage.

In 2018, our 3rd and 4th graders scored significantly higher when compared to other 3rd and 4th graders across the state and across the district on the AZ Merit Math state assessment.
Mesquite’s Chinese Immersion Program is considered a Partial Immersion Program because 50% of its instructional delivery occurs in Mandarin Chinese and the other 50% in English. Math and Science are taught in Chinese by a teacher from China, whose first language is Mandarin Chinese.
All other content areas are taught in English by a teacher whose first language is English. During Chinese instruction, the only language spoken by adults is Chinese; the English-speaking teacher takes on a support role. During English instruction, the Chinese teacher takes on a support role.
