Our Chinese Immersion Program has a Chinese Advisory Group with parent, staff, and district members. They meet once or more a year to discuss happenings and go over any ideas, concerns, or questions. Parent members are available to talk about the program or to bring your ideas, questions, or concerns to the group.

My name is Lindsey Abeyta and I serve on the Chinese Advisory Group and am Mesquite’s site council president. Our son, Giovanni, has been in CIP since Kindergarten. Our youngest son Elijah will be in Kindergarten starting the 2020-2021 school year and will also participate in CIP. We are pretty well versed in the process of supporting a child learning a second language and want to offer our support to those parents that are new to the program. Roky Cooper is the mom of one our CIP students. She has a background in linguistic research, with a focus on foreign language comprehension. She was raised in Australia, and has lived in Tucson since 2000. She is now an Intensive Care nurse, but she still loves languages and would welcome any of your questions.
