Virtual Talent Show

Dear Mesquite Families,

I know these are difficult and uncertain times we are facing right now. Due to these
circumstances, I would love to lift all of our spirits. This time of year is usually when we are getting ready for talent show auditions. The students are buzzing with excitement as they practice their performances, and talents before school, after school and even during lunch.

This year, we are going to do something that has never been done before. We are going to have a Virtual Talent Show! There will be no auditions this year, and every video that is sent to me will be compiled into hopefully one large video I will send to all of you. This will depend on how many submissions I get. If there are a large number of videos being sent, we may end up doing a Mesquite’s Got Talent where I will send you weekly videos of the talent being sent in.

I don’t want to put the usual restrictions on these videos, so as long as the video is school appropriate it will be aired. I only ask that your videos do not exceed 3 minutes as is the usual time limit. Also, I do reserve the right to hold back any videos that my panel doesn’t deem school appropriate as the whole point of this Virtual Talent Show is to uplift and spread happiness, smiles and cheer. If you have poetry, are a singer, dancer, magician, comedian, artist, even tricks with your pets are allowed!

I encourage you to include the whole family! You can have just the students perform or the whole family perform, the sky is the limit! You will have the entire month of April to submit your videos, and depending on how many I receive, we will either have one long Virtual Talent Show in the beginning of May, or Mesquite’s Got Talent every week in May.
I will keep all of you posted as I start to receive videos of which one it looks like we will be doing! Also, if you want to participate, but are stuck on the technology of it, please let me know and I would be happy to either walk you through it, or to find the answer!

My hope with this project is that we connect, get to see each other even if only through videos, laugh and smile a whole lot. Please let me know if you have any questions. I so look forward to seeing all of your amazing videos and talent, let’s do this Mesquite!

Love always,
Mrs. Port
